Is an EV a suitable car to bring to Arran?
At only around 20 miles long and 10 miles wide, you don't need a lot of juice to get around Arran!
The coastal road around the entire island is a journey of approximately 56 miles.
And, yes, there is public EV charging in Arran! There are a couple of 50kW DC fast chargers in Brodick and Lamlash, although they have not been the most reliable.
There are also type 2 chargers, offering charging up to 22kW at the Lochranza Distillery, Lagg Distillery, and in Lamlash and Brodick.
For more information, up to date status, and reviews of these public chargers check out Zapmap.
What about charging at Lochdean Cottage?
While we do not have dedicated EV charging there is a 13A socket outside on the front of the house. If you are a guest you are welcome to use your own granny charger here. Note that you will need a cable of at least 25 feet in length to reach from the front of the house to the parking area.
